Former MICROS Exec John Rovani Named President, COO of POS Technology Company

GAITHERSBURG, MD, Dec. 20, 2000 – John Rovani has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of POS.Com Technologies, an e-commerce provider of real-time, web-based point-of-sale software services to restaurants and retailers. He succeeds Brian Taff, who was promoted to Chief Executive Officer.

“John joins POS.Com at a key time in the company’s development,” said POS.Com Chairman Richard Hindin. “POS.Com is ready to introduce its revolutionary, patent pending, web-based technology to the market place. We have successfully tested our new point-of-sale software with 100 percent accuracy for more than eight months and in millions of transactions.”

Hindin said Rovani will lead the company into a new and significant growth phase. “John will take POS.Com’s proven business and information management applications to restaurant retailers and establish partnerships with key companies serving them,” he said.

Hindin is a successful entrepreneur, who has founded a number of companies including Britches of Georgetowne.

POS.Com’s new restaurant application currently is installed in restaurants in the Washington-Baltimore area. The company plans a significant product rollout in 2001 with its industry partners.

“I am very excited at the opportunity to drive POS.Com to the next level,” Rovani said. “Now that POS.Com has demonstrated that its model and system work well, the company is well-positioned to change the way software is delivered to the 8.1 million restaurants around the world.”

Rovani said POS.Com’s technology is very attractive to restaurant owners and managers because it reduces costs by providing a subscription model that enables them to focus on their core business instead of servicing software and hardware in their stores.

Rovani is a 15-year veteran of the travel, hospitality and transportation industries and has extensive experience in building and managing new technology businesses. Most recently, he was Vice President of Internet Products for MICROS Systems, Inc., a large technology provider to the hospitality industry. At MICROS, he launched alliances with a variety of e- businesses to further its Application Service Provider (ASP) and business-to- business supply chain initiatives.

Rovani also was President and CEO of BehavHeuristics, a decision support software and ASP firm. He began his career with Sabre and AMR Corporation, parent of American Airlines. He holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts.
